DISSOCIATION

The exaggerated idea of sliding to separate and relate the enhancement that was implemented in the initial research stages, led to the final volumetric result to create a new dynamic space. This started with a unit for two artists that was transformed by opening up and exploding out into a cluster of four units stacked one upon the other. The project is located in a narrow urban site in NYC, and is dedicated for a total of eight people all coming from an artistic field. The transformation is a play of sliding volumes that separates and includes a rippling effect on the plans level. The stacked units are mirrored to emphasize dynamism, and are connected to the lower common working space with one vertical circulation as one focal point. The play of volumes standing on pilotis inspired by Le Corbusier, integrates the context and revives the action of sliding to empower the separations and dissociations.
