CITY GATE LIBRARY
The most prominent feature of “It is a Garden” is how light is penetrating the volume through its roof and various openings optimizing the diffusion of natural light throughout the whole space. This is also emphasized by the inclined inwards volumetric of the openings facilitating light penetration and redirecting it into the space.
I would like to implement the idea of this flood of light through a Composition of Light Beams that Cut and Manipulate my library space generating a Dynamic Interaction with the surroundings allowing Shadow and Light to create a rhythmic play throughout the perception of the various spaces. The verticality and horizontality of the light will modify the visitor’s experience by emphasizing the contrast between Negative and Positive spaces thus carving Voids out of Mass.
