HOPE IN BEIRUT

cindy joe bejjani

The blast that rocked Lebanon’s capital with the force of an earthquake killed more than 100 people and injured more than 4,000 others. The neighborhoods surrounding the Beirut Port were demolished, people lost their homes, families, and loved ones : Lebanese lost their hope. Beirut turned from the city of life to the city of ghosts, but it is a city that refuses to die. The project aspires to bring back this glimpse of hope that is still present through the explosion’s remaining : the silos and the skyline tower that are still standing there. Also, hope is brought back through exhibition areas displaying Lebanese artworks, prayer rooms to pray for the dead loved ones and a better future for Lebanon as well as a meditation space for a better mental health.
