Overlooking the sea in Byblos is a land and a plan for an orphanage, inspired by the Kanchenjunga Apartments. Starting with the facades of the precedent that is composed of large and several openings that create the notion of transparency within the structure as in seeing right through the building. Also, the interior space, that has different types of apartments, share a difference in floor heights. Using this atmosphere in a unit allows the supervisor to easily observe the children. Placing the units facing each other create a corridor below the elevated supervisor’s room. The corridors along with all the rooms are ventilated due to the loggias and several windows. The negative in the elevated spaces result in 3 communal spaces each uniquely having a view, whether of the entrance, the public garden, the sea, or the train station.
