THE LAND OF THE PURPLE

edwin zgheib

The Mogador island presents contrasting attributes compared to non-other. Forbidden to the public, they present a diversity of treasures, but the real gem is the rich availability of murex shells.
Described as the catalyst of the generation of a dyeing factory dyeing factory, the concept will evolve around the murex process where each entity will communicate and narrate the essence of the Phoenician economy and their work ethic. Incorporating both programs, the intersection between the entrance to the port and the main street of this traditional Moroccan architectural medina will translate itself into 4 embedded entities, each dedicated to a step, therefore providing compatibility between program and concept.
The different units will resemble an archeological terraced landscape, recreating the only and prohibited archeological excavations which unearth the history of the land of the purple.
