CONNECTING THROUGH FASHION

Under the current circumstances, Young Lebanese fashion designers are lacking access to opportunities and find themselves disconnected from the international world of fashion.  This project aims to turn part of Charles Helou Station into a Fashion Hub for young fashion designers, connecting them with Star-designers as well as tailors and artisans. The project works as a connector between the vernacular Gemayzeh and the Port highway;  while upper entrances are an extension of the residential neighborhoods and youth hangouts, the Port entrance acts as a VIP red carpet access. The catwalk recalls the linearity of the highway while secondary passages, stairs and ramps cross at an angle, at different levels, allowing visual and functional connection between all the “makers” of Fashion. The Jungle-like brutal columns are transformed into multiple-height display elements, framed with glass; they act as a magnet, keeping everyone up to date with the fashion trends.
