Inspired by the topic of the 2020+1 Biennale, the students proposed a unit inscribed in a Volume of 6 x 6 x 6 m for 2 people, drawn from the analysis of a precedent and tailored to fit a scenario for living together in the future. A special attention was given to spaces designed for specific activities, spaces where cohorts would meet and others where they needed to be confined. Equipped with their scenario and new unit, the students imagined an appropriate site with obvious and particular environmental characteristics to develop a project for a communal living. The project caters for at least 8 people (equivalent to 4 units repeated) and an additional program that relates to the imagined site and the proposed scenario. The project was designed as a cluster of repeated units that can be stacked on top of each other, staggered, juxtaposed next to each other, clustered around a specific function, or any combination of the above options. The organization of the unit triggered thinking about the circulation from, to and between the units, the shared spaces between the units, the access to the project, the integration within the site, the spatial qualities within the project and the structure to a certain extent.
