This studio was based on a current situation: the covid pandemic and the Beirut explosion.
Analyzing the covid 19 pandemic situation, understanding its impact on the social level as well as on an individual scale, students were to research about the new upcoming era post-covid. The pandemic being a hinge moment in our history, it has affected all human behavior, especially in public spaces.
In parallel, Beirut has witnessed a tragic explosion, leaving the heart of Beirut devastated. The studio proposed a historical building in Gemmayze that reflects the identity of its neighborhood.
The design had to be innovative, creative, and even futuristic by keeping the historical value of the building and working in enhancing it through a modern interior architecture that allows it to become an attractive social space in a new era.
