Analyzing the given site led to the birth of the original housing unit: a two-story apartment for two. The upper volume cantilevers cross-axially above the lower, almost levitating, breaking off the ground. The cantilever creates a shelter: the porch, from which dangles the protruding stairs. The users will be channeled under the stair, almost hitting their heads to enter the unit.
The designed program will be a designated OCD treatment center in Achrafieh’s suburbs. After understanding how Safdie Architects’ Habitat 67’ in Montreal is constructed, the unit designed will get multiplied. Connections between units is based upon a grid: L connections are only existent, creating a 6 story treatment center.
