INTIMATE SPACES

The Gemayzeh area is one of the few neighborhoods in Beirut, where the architectural history of the city is still preserved in mass. This composition created by these buildings from different eras, and Saint Nicholas Stairs give us the notion of intimacy, bringing back up our history and our past. We all know that dates accentuate our past and provide indications for reviving a situation. Nevertheless, to keep a memory alive, we should fix it in the space we remember. Intimate exchanges define our experiences of inhabited space, each takes us back to a space of intimacy expressed as the proportion between the organic human body and the solid structure. The project is based on a trajectory within a heritage building, that operates as a museum guided by a curator, that leads the visitors from the inside, and back again to the outside, where they get intimate within it.
