A BREAK INTO THE OCEAN

Starting with a contextual approach to the triangular-shaped building, the project challenges the original layout of the apartment by creating flexible open spaces linked together by one elongated element, parallel to the Northern façade and providing the occupants with a strong sense of directionality determining the movement towards the eastern balcony.
As a result of this intervention, an intricate interplay between the shapes of solids and voids gives possibility to find private zones for specific activities in this open space. Functions are placed freely along the central staircase in an elongated line, parallel to the northern façade, keeping the original idea of united open space present and intact.
The narrow space at the entrance has been utilized as a connecting point, transforming it into a functional open space that also connects distant east and west parts of the apartment, rather than separating it into two distinct parts.
