THE GETAWAY SPA

shadi dayoub

The intention was to create a spa that can be read and interpreted by looking at the whole, while giving each room serving a function its own volume. The centre includes a sequence of rooms which should be used consequently. The spa’s exterior follows its interiors’ functions by interconnecting volumes within the 20x10x10m space and therefore assigning each a function. The inspiration for this project was from the courtyard house by Kouichi Kimura architects, the house’s façade is a setback of volumes and it houses a courtyard that invites the surroundings into the space and frames the view to the outside which brings the outside inside while still being completely private. These design features were implemented in the project.
The location of the spa on site is next to the garden, which was invited into the project and worked with to blend it with the spa.
