The main program is a condensed IDP building to accommodate the maximum number of people who lost their homes after Beirut’s August 4 explosion. During the site analysis and while investigating the area, we noticed that Mar Mikheal is like a living exhibition, where people have used the walls to express certain thoughts through art, along with the high occupancy of art shops that extend to the street. The concept of the project is to translate the idea of this walkable city into a vertical neighborhood, with galleries opening to the stairs and displayed art along the walls. When people start leaving their units, galleries will start expanding, and each floor becomes an exhibition space, and the project becomes one museum. Thus, this project is a Retro-Haven, having glimpses of the past and keeps the typology of the area, where its mass provides a safe place for refuge.
